Trading 101
Start here. The basics of how trading works, key terms, how to begin, and what to learn first.
Trading is the act of buying and selling financial instruments -- currencies, stocks, indices, crypto, commodities -- to profit from price movement. Unlike investing, which holds assets for years, trading works on timeframes from minutes to weeks and depends on reading price behaviour, managing risk on every position, and executing a repeatable plan rather than predicting the future.
This path is built for people starting from zero who want to reach funded-trader level. You do not need a finance degree or large savings: modern prop firms fund traders who can demonstrate discipline on a simulated account, which means the skill that matters most is process, not capital.
Work through the path in order. First understand how prop firms and funded challenges work, then risk management -- position sizing, drawdown, risk-reward -- then chart reading with candlestick patterns and price action, and finally pick one strategy and learn it deeply. Each guide links to the free calculators and tools it references, so you can apply every concept as you read it.
